One of the wonderful things about Galway being such a small city is that urban, suburban and rural settings cosy up next to each other in laughably close proximity.
A newly-renovated laneway in our very suburban part of town runs alongside an empty tract of land – a hilly meadow with gorse and wildflowers spread over a couple of square kilometres, hemmed in by housing and apartment developments.
While it’s beautiful and a source of lovely insect life, like caterpillars, grasshoppers, butterflies and dragonflies, it’s usually pretty uneventful otherwise.
Except this week! Nathalie was out for a walk napping Ada and FaceTimed me:
Bloody donkeys!
I dunno about ye, but we love donkeys around here.
