Tales of growing up

You won’t be long in Lisbon before someone recommends “the best” place to get a custard tart – everyone has their favourites! 🥧 Many people like the ones out near Belem, but our faves hands down are from @manteigaria.oficial. They make hundreds every day – it’s literally all they do! The crisp, flakey almost savoury pasty contrasts nicely with the gooey, warm, sweet custard inside. I’m craving one just writing this. ⭐️ Top tip: if you visit the one in Time Out market in Mercado de Ribera, bear in mind that there is a counter both sides of the shop! The indoor one can get clogged with queues, but the street side one is often quieter and they even have tables and chairs (that’s where this shot was taken) so you can enjoy your custard tart in the sun ☀️ 👌 😋
