The one with the tiny human (and six month’s worth of news 😅)
This post was first sent out from the Tiny Letter we set up after we moved to Lisbon in 2017. Ola friends, We’re just beginning to come up for air after welcoming a tiny new person into the world: Ari was born on August 5th here in Lisbon (or, to be more precise, across the… Continue reading

â ï¸ Even on cloudy days, thereâs no beating that miradouro view. When we first moved to Lisbon we lived in Graça, so this was our local miradouro and itâs still my favourite. ð Rarely as packed the two main ones in Alfama (Miradouro de Santa Luzia or Mirador Portas do Sol – though theyâre both gorgeous in their way and worth a visit), itâs got a handy bar, tables and chairs and is walking distance from @cphcoffeelab and the great little @oitavacolina craft beer kiosk.

You wonât be long in Lisbon before someone recommends âthe bestâ place to get a custard tart – everyone has their favourites! 𥧠Many people like the ones out near Belem, but our faves hands down are from @manteigaria.oficial. They make hundreds every day – itâs literally all they do! The crisp, flakey almost savoury pasty contrasts nicely with the gooey, warm, sweet custard inside. Iâm craving one just writing this. âï¸ Top tip: if you visit the one in Time Out market in Mercado de Ribera, bear in mind that there is a counter both sides of the shop! The indoor one can get clogged with queues, but the street side one is often quieter and they even have tables and chairs (thatâs where this shot was taken) so you can enjoy your custard tart in the sun âï¸ ð ð

ð to any new followers! A quick intro: Iâm Nathalie, a writer and photographer from Dublin, Ireland currently living in Lisbon with my husband and five-month-old son. I hope this account showcases how beautiful Lisbon is and how much there is to discover – hit me up if youâre planning a visit and have any questions! ð Pic above is of the Ascensor da Glória, one of three funiculars in the city, originally designed to make Lisbonâs hilly landscape a tad more manageable. ð· This shot would be impossible during the high season, as there would be about a dozen or so people jostling for selfies, but check out how beautiful and quiet it is in that winter light. Nov-Feb is a lovely to visit Lisbon; There are plenty of crisp, sunny days and everything is a little less hectic and harried.
